A short drive from Lake Geneva is the less crowded Fontana. And down by the quieter side of the lake is Gordy's Boathouse Bar and Restaurant. Heavily wooden and nautically decorated, the staff is friendly and the food is very good. As a matter of fact, the prime beef Swiss burger I had was probably one of the best I've had in a very long time. My husband had the huge chu cho burger which comes with 2 slices of bacon, fried egg, Freud onions and Swiss and cheddar cheese (trying eating that!)--a bit messy but very filling. The Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds may be a small appetizer but they are also delicious. Lots of flatbreads, wraps, tacos, and sandwiches also on the lunch menu with entrees listed for dinner (seafood, pasta, ribs, and filet). Great views but on street parking is limited (we parked on the municipal lot and cut through the park).

Local New Ice Cream Restaurant

Dip in the bay is a cozy, "lake" themed ice cream shop. The ice cream is the star here- delicious, interesting flavors. The service is charming, with local teens usually manning the place. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby. Small seating area adjacent to the ice cream shop is charming and filled with historical photos of the Williams Bay Area.

Daddy Maxwell's

We stopped by for lunch. We like to try private owned vs chain restaurants. The building and decor is bright and festive. The menu is...weird with cryptic comments interspersed throughout. Even our waitress had no clue what it meant or why. My husband had a patty melt and fries - average quality . I ordered the teriyaki portabella salad, it was indescribably terrible. The waitress took it off our bill and gave us a dessert. The pie was good.
Oh, and cash only!

Two Sisters Thai Restaurant

Reviewed By MapMakinMan - Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin

I went here with my parents and my wife tonight. Our server was very pleasant and was an excellent salesperson in her energetic descriptions of the dishes. At the end of the meal, after we informed her we wouldn't be having dessert, she still told us about a mango dessert because we "had to try it next time." It was nice to see the server take such pride in their food.

We had the chicken coconut soup (#13 - I can't remember the name of the soup) which was excellent and had a nice mild heat to it. We also had the Thai egg rolls which were very good. I had the Pad ginger chicken, which was excellent and had plenty of zip to it, due to the ginger. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken, which had large chunks of green pepper, tomato and pineapple. The fruit and veggies were grilled, which added a nice extra flavor that usually isn't present with most sweet and sour dishes. My parents had the cashew chicken which they enjoyed.

I have to once again say how energetic and pleasant our server was. She clearly wanted to make sure we had a great experience at the restaurant, which we did.

Elizabeth's is a Midwestern cafe as advertised. The decor is present - booths and tables with old time posters and mossrock paneling. The wait staff was friendly, and even talked me into having desert (pudding included in the price of dinner) when I planned on skipping. Glad I did not.

Outstanding!!! This is the go-to place in the Lake Geneva area!
Had dinner with my wife during a long weekend get-away at Lake Geneva. We walked in to a beautifully appointed restaurant – sparkling with lights, and vines, and coziness. The wait staff could not have been better - very attentive and speedy, but gave us time to just sit and relax and enjoy ambiance. As far as the food is concerned, the waitress commented about how the chef takes as much pride in the steak and seafood as the pasta. So, we opted to skip a traditional pasta dinner and go with steak and seafood. The filet melted like butter and the salmon was fresh and full of flavor. Outstanding!!!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and can’t wait to visit again during our next visit to Lake Geneva.

Sammy's on the Square

Reviewed By on-the-go-300 - Chicago, Illinois

Stopped in with a couple friends for breakfast on a Sunday. Hash browns and eggs were undercooked (eggs were ordered overeasy, but these were barely cooked), bacon was cold-apparently cooked in advance and didn't bother to throw it on the griddle to reheat prior to serving. Corned beef hash was straight from a can. Service was friendly but rushed and inattentive. The place was busy, so I understand they were trying to get the food out quickly and turn over the tables, but it was at the expense of quality food and service. Nothing special about the menu, food, portions, or prices. Not sure why it has such a draw.

Chuck's Tavern

Reviewed By BZSTEPHAN - McHenry, Illinois

We live only about 20 miles from Lake Geneva and enjoy the lake and surrounding communities. Restaurants and stores tend to be a bit overpriced so taking a short drive around the lake can help you get away from the crowds.

We recently took the mail boat tour out of Lake Geneva but decided to drive to Chuck's in Fontana for a late lunch. We found a nice outside table for four and ordered our lunches inside. Within a short time our burgers, veggie burger and lobster roll were served. We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch on the deck and so did quiet a few others who filled the deck along with us. We were happy to find a reasonably priced alternative to some of the higher priced options in the area.

We are looking forward to our next excursion to Lake Geneva, Fontana and Chuck's.

The menu at this restaurant is reasonable, most things under $10 for lunch, but the food was just average, edible but nothing special. I had the smoked pork sandwich for $9 which came with a side and I upgraded to sweet potato fries for a dollar. They were unfortunately was too salty, but the pork was good with basic sauce that may or may not have come out of a bottle.

There is a nice view from the screened-in patio of the lake, although there is a street between the two. Our server Jorge was pleasant and efficient.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it wasn't bad.
