If you don't mind your food coming from a can, this place is just your style. Service is as poor as the food. How do they draw crowds? I don't get it. Maybe it's the live entertainment but it certainly isn't the food.

Fox Hollow Coffee

Reviewed By bluejay377 - Havre de Grace, Maryland

Fox Hollow is a franchised, primarily drive through coffee service. There are currently 3 locations: Elkton, North East (near Cecil College), and just outside Havre de Grace (south on Route 40). There is something to be said about a coffee shop that maintains quality control over its roasting and beans. Do not expect the high brow Starbucks language here, but do expect exceptionally good quality coffee and coffee drinks. Cinde, who is the morning barista at the Havre de Grace location, always opens up before 6am, so you can drive through early. We especially love the North East, MD location near the Cecil College where Ashley and Brandt never fail to deliver outstanding customer service. The beans come from the Seattle area, the epicenter of cool, coffee shops, and the difference shows in the coffee quality. Unlike the typical roast most local coffee shops get from the Baltimore area, these beans and the brew they produce are liquid, black gold. Not the bitter brew you typically find in our area. The peach and white chocolate latte and the salted caramel latte are exquisite. Our teenagers love the blended drinks. You will not find a better chai tea latte between DC and Philly. There is limited in store, sit down room available at all stores with the Havre de Grace location offering the most sit down space. All locations offer a limited food menu as well. Cinde at the Havre de Grace location can whip up a killer everything bagel with ham and egg in the morning. Prices are better than Starbucks, but more than the typical "coffee" you find locally. If you are into the coffee experience, Fox Hollow is worth the travel time and the search. There is something to be said about that well crafted morning cup of coffee.

UDairy Creamery

The Creamery, funded by a grant from the UNIDEL foundation and private donations, is intended to communicate to our students about the principles of dairy production, food science and safety, environmentally sound agriculture, business management and finance, and – perhaps most important – how we can sustain agriculture in the face of land use change by incorporating all of these principles into a modern dairy farm.

Unfortuantly this place is too close to my house so I eat way too much ice cream. They have innovative flavors and lots of seasonal selections to keep the place interesting. The ice cream is very Richter and smooth. They have pints/quarts/and half gallons available for take home.

Cracker Barrel has gone downhill in my estimation. This one is no different then any other it's clean, the foods prepared fast and the service is fine. But the portions are smaller then they used to be.Also, because it's located next to I -95 it's usually crowded during peak dining times.

Chick-fil-A

Reviewed By daisyferret1 - Delaware

I have been to this Chick-Fil-A countless times for lunch and dinner, as we love their food. Everything is pretty good. Only item that I am not a real big fan of is their waffle fries. However, their chicken sandwiches, nuggets, fries, shakes and salads have all been excellent. I had never been here for breakfast, but decided to stop in here for breakfast the other day since I was shopping the Walmart that shares the parking lot. Place was almost empty. It was strange to see this place with NO lines, as they usually wrap around the building at lunch or dinner time! I ordered the chicken biscuit and my order was up in less than a minute! Sandwich was hot and tasty. Biscuit was good, but a tad salty. Portion size of the breaded chicken cutlet seemed smaller for the breakfast sandwich than it is for the lunch/dinner sandwich.

Overall, good food and fast, friendly service. I did NOT think I would like chicken for breakfast, but it was surprisingly pretty good. Only real downside to the meal is the calorie count, 440 calories in a plain sandwich.

Squire's Dairy Delight

Reviewed By daisyferret1 - Delaware

My husband and I like to visit Squire's at least a couple times throughout the summer. They offer all kinds of dairy delights including milkshakes, sundaes, specialty sundaes, orange twist sherbert, flurries, 24 FLAVORS of soft serve, flavor burst ice cream, soft serve yogurt, water ice and MORE. Their menu is SO LARGE that I have never really taken the time to read EVERYTHING on it. I have notices some of the interesting specialty sundaes though like Muddy Sneaker, Dirt Worm and Camp Fire Sundaes. But, I usually stick to my favorite--the pistachio flavored soft serve cone. It only comes in one size, which seems to be the case with several of the items offered. However, it is usually large enough for my husband and I to share. He always gets the pistachio. Once I got the cheesecake flavored soft serve. The cheesecake was good, but I still prefer the pistachio. It really is the the BEST!

Overall, we have had great experiences with Squire's. The service is usually pretty fast, even on a busy night. The prices are decent--not cheap, but affordable. The serving sizes are decent too. The atmosphere is OK considering that it is in the parking lot of a gas station on the highway. They do have some benches set out in front & often they will have beautiful flowers in large flower pots along the front of the building. The ice cream is soft, smooth and full of flavor. It is our favorite local ice cream shop and the only place we know of in town that we can get the pistachio soft serve!! It will definately keep us coming back.

Note: CASH ONLY. There are no tables, so plan to dine on one of the outside benches or in your car.

Not a fans of chains, so this local restaurant fits what I love. Someone has passion for authentic BBQ and you can smell it as you walk in. Limited menu but what they offer is what they do best. Home made sauce was great, ribs just fell off the bone. Smoked sausage was juicy and full of flavor.
