The Coffee Pot is a wonderful cafe/shop in Gallatin Gateway. I've purchased random pieces of pottery over the years but didn't know about its beginnings. This time we took a tour, so we learned that it started as a pottery shop by a Christian couple. They wanted to offer coffee to customers in the mugs they made, so they started to make coffee and the wife's homemade cinnamon rolls. In the past 30ish years it has grown to an amazing cafe for breakfast and lunch, and the pottery portion has grown to a nationwide business. Everything is delicious, with homemade desserts and breakfast and foods. The pottery is beautiful and functional, with numerous glazes and designs. I wanted a pot for the honey I put in my tea each day and found one with a pattern I liked but the color wasn't quite what I wanted. The wife took me back to the shop so that I could look at every single possible one so I could select the one I wanted. The Coffee Pot is still owned and operated by the same lovely couple, and the employees are friendly and kind. A winner!

Granny's Gourmet Donuts

Reviewed By LorraineMontana - Bozeman

I am not a sweets person, but this little donut joint is a real surprise. Their 'nuts are light, not greasy tasting or overly sweet, and feature garnishes like fresh raspberries and strawberries. This is the only donut shop that my co-workers beg for for morning meetings. Incredibly addictive stuff. I've seen staunch, health-food-only advocates eat four of these beauties in a sitting, all the while raving about their sheer deliciousness and perfect mouthfeel. Granny's donuts don't coat your mouth with a hydrogenated oil feeling the way that grocery store donuts do.

South 9th Bistro

Scores of excellent online reviews and local word of mouth agree that South 9th Bistro is clearly one of Bozeman's top restaurants. Enjoy casual upscale dining in a completely revamped turn-of-the-century home. Located just south of Main Street on 9th Avenue, the Bistro is easy to find - by day, by its distinctive orange Victorian facade, and by night, by its many windows aglow with the warmth and comfort of the space within. Seating at the Bistro is available both inside and (seasonally) outside. Inside the Bistro, seating on the main floor is open and upbeat, while seating on the second floor is a bit cozier and more intimate. The second floor also features a separate private dining area that can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. The Bistro's kitchen is under the direction of Chef Ryan Trenton. Our seasonal dinner menu is broad in scope, featuring dishes such as Steak au Poivre served with dauphinoise potatoes and Pan-seared North Atlantic salmon with lemon- caper beurre blanc and wild rice. The menu also offers vegetarian options such as Ratatouille with polenta and sauteed haricots verts, and Roasted Butternut Squash Ravioli served with a sage-marsala sauce and carrot-ginger mousseline. All of our menu items are scratch-made in-house, including our pasta, baked goods and desserts, with numerous gluten-free options. The Bistro also features a full selection of wines and beers. South 9th Bistro is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Happy hour begins at 4pm, dinner service at 5pm. Reservations are recommended. Dinner fare is available for take-out during dinner hours.

This small restaurant is a delight. The dining room has a cozy feel without being close. The menu has a French flavor with plenty of American options. I had the Coquille St. Jacques, something not found everywhere. It was delicious. Another of our party proclaimed the Chicken Marsala to be excellent. The bread pudding was also deemed a great end to a fine meal. The service was perfect and I recommend this establishment highly.

The Cafe at the Inn on the Gallatin

Reviewed By Rick O - Helena, Montana

My wife and I spent the most amazing weekend at the Inn on the Gallatin. I'll review the lodging separately but we ate breakfast and lunch while staying. Don't let the rustic exterior fool you. The inside has been nicely remodeled. We found that if you have breakfast before about 9:00 a.m. you can get seated right away. After 9:00 it gets really busy. The food was really good but the friendliness of the staff was absolutely joyful. After taking our order they brought out fresh hot donut holes fresh out of the fryer. The biscuits were enormous, everything was made fresh and the potatoes O'brien were delicious! At lunch you get a basket of homemade chips before the rest of your food arrives. I had the South of the Border burger which was marvelous. And even though I was stuffed, we had the fried pie. WOW!!! That's all I can say. It was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be stopping in any time we're going through the canyon just for one of those.

Very interesting mix of ingredients, never before I had thali dish with beets nor mushrooms. Very unusual flavour. Relatively small variety of vegetarian main dishes, fortunately they were able to substitute paneer for chicken, therefore all three vegetarians in our party had different main course. Great deserts.

We go out a lot and found the food a little disappointing.
My husband had the lamb with pickled mushroom and thought the mushroom were too pickled. My mother in law did not like her trout much however I thought the bison with sage and bacon was very tasty.
Service was very slow.

The cinnamon roll is soft and warm and gooey. It's all things wonderful. After that I had the scramble special which was good but nothing special. The biscuits were very good!

The husband got the chicken fried steak, which was ENORMOUS!

Highly recommend. Service was a little slow. It took along time to get a water refill that only came once.

Otherwise, great breakfast place.

The Corral Bar & Steakhouse

This restaurant was recommended to us by a Big Sky vacation rental employee. The meal we had here was the best one in our 10 days staying in Yellowstone/Big Sky. The steak was delicious. Loved the atmosphere especially the pine, rustic feel. Dessert was wonderful too. Definitely would recommend the Corral.

Western Cafe

Located in downtown Bozeman.

Reviewed By RHoward2014 - Bozeman, Montana

The Western Cafe has been receiving good reviews for some time and I now know why. This was my first time here (I just don't eat breakfast out often) and enjoyed it very much. My husband and I shared the cinnamon roll. I think next time I will ask them to put a little butter on top - but it was very good. You're going to want to share! We both ordered the daily special of biscuits and gravy served with an egg and hash browns. Way too much food but somehow we managed to lick our plates! Looking forward to coming back here.
