Marblehead Chowder House

To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

Marblehead is excellent. First and foremost, the food is delicious. So many different seafood combinations to choose from. They also have delicious steak for land lovers.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable of the food and professional. Our Server was Sydney. All our questions were patiently addressed and our food was brought out in a timely manner and we did not feel rushed. Sydney stopped byseveral times to ensure we had everything or needed anything. It was obvious she wanted us to have a great time. We did!!

Love, love, love it! Fantastic Mediterranean food! We honestly couldn't decide so we created our own messa and picked a bunch of appetizers. Daddy's style hummus was the first plate cleared. The foul mudammas was next and not to be missed. Everything was just delicious and the portions were very generous -- my sons were very appreciative that I brought home left over chicken livers (OMG, that pomegranate sauce...!). Grabbed some spinach pies to go as well and they were really sizable for the price. Go there. Just go there!

Ocean

Reviewed By SilverSageMag - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

At first glance, we were a bit surprised by the name of the restaurant. Sitting at the fork of the Lehigh RIVER and the Delaware RIVER, Ocean seemed a bit pretentious. But then we realized, the owner - Mick Gjevukaj, also owns River Grille. So, okay. Ocean it is.

The venue - was a bit mixed. Cold, efficient and small. It definitely felt "oceany." But there was also an asian fusion feel to the restaurant that gave it a bit of a kitschy vibe. The big tables in the back felt a bit more private and comfy, but the rest of the tables were situated close together and sterile - right down to the fake candles on each table that didn't flick their fake flicked lights.

Wait staff - we had Sarne. Not sure if that was her real name or not, but she was efficient, pleasant and definitely knew her profession! The mixed was the wait staff uniform - jeans with black tops. Perfect for a steak house or homey fish house, but it didn't seem to blend well with the vibe of Ocean; which attempted to lean more to the "cool" than the "outback."

Food - some was yummy and some not so much. We started off with the Lobster Empanadas - wow. Bursting with flavor and the carmelized onion on top was delicious. We also started with the Panko Crusted Calamari - meh. Without the sauces on the side, the calamari was quite bland. And the sauces seemed to come right out of a big box restaurant or jar - nothing fancy, flavorful or original. Standard sauces.

We then ordered the Seafood Pot Pie - at first glance, quite disappointing from what the waitress described as "more than 7 oz of fish." We were expecting a deep dish full of deliciousness. What we got was a shallow dish - full of flavor, resonating with amazing broth and loads of different fish. YUM! The other main dish was the Filet Mignon - not expecting much from a seafood restaurant - but this was grilled to perfection (just red on the inside) and teeming with robust flavor.

Too full for dessert, we finished the night with a flavorful coffee (Irish) and waddled back to our car - full and happy.

Although our bar bill was nearly the same as the food bill - it was good value.

#silversagemag will be back.

This is a great place to eat. The service was wonderful, and our server was cheerful and pleasant , especially for 7am on a Saturday. The choices were good. By the way, the menu looked great for lunch and dinner, too. The breakfast selections were tasty and the portions were good. Price was normal. The diner is nice inside and has a nice sized parking lot right on 248. It easy to find even if is in the country.

Friendly and attentive without being intrusive (thank you Shawn!) Nice atmosphere. Easy to have a conversation.

The service and the atmosphere were outstanding during a recent visit to 3rd & Ferry for a Friday night dinner. If you like fish, this is the place as the name suggests. There are a few non-fish items but not many. Everything was delicious. The french fry appetizers with crab was delicious. The tilapia stuffed was crab was very good (the crab was excellent). Really enjoyed the fun pie shake for dessert.

Mesa Modern Mexican

Reviewed By Tammy H - Palmer, Pennsylvania, United States

Wonderful, unique take on traditional Mexican fare. Even my husband (who hates Mexican) enjoys coming here...his favorite menu item is the Seared Shrimp & Scallops and the cream sauce is divine! They have a wonderful variety of tableside made guacamoles but our favorite is the Guacamole con Frutas...we usually order a double for 4 people because it is so delicious. The back dining room can get noisy if it is full so we like to sit in the main dining room if possible. They can get busy on weekends so I definitely recommend a reservation just to be safe.

Two Rivers Brewing Co.

Reviewed By Bob B - Bath, Pennsylvania

Urban location so parking is a major problem...crowded side streets and no surface lots in the area..allow extra time to park. Located in a remodeled historic building with decent "atmosphere". Two Rivers does a great job with their beers and suggest doing a flight ($12 for five 4 oz. beers) to sample several styles. The "Left Eye" IPA is one of the best around and their current BBA stout is definitely a winner. However, the food is another matter. My wife's "medium" burger was dry and overdone, while the PEI mussels I ordered were miniscule and completely lacking in flavor. Prices totally overvalue the food! Two Rivers is a good stop to sample some excellent microbrews but look elsewhere for your nourishment.

We stopped at Chocodiem for a small treat after eating dinner at Mr. Lee's Noodles (also delicious). It was pricey ($7.00 for three small truffles) but was well worth it.I highly recommend the raspberry and peanut butter truffles. Some truffles even had glitter on them! They also offer macarons and gelato. It's even fun to window shop here because there are so many unique food items that vendors offer. You may see some of the biggest crab legs of your entire life at 3rd & Ferry Fish Market. I will definitely be coming back!
