Forum Schweizer Geschichte Schwyz

The Forum of Swiss History Schwyz is one of the most important museums of cultural history in the Alpine region. It is a modern historical museum where culture and history come together offering visitors a special experience. The permanent exhibition by the title of "Switzerland in the Making. Through the 12th to the 14th Century" focuses on the foundation and early development of the Old Swiss Confederacy in the Middle Ages. Designed as an adventure tour to address our senses, the exhibition appeals to children and adults alike. The extraordinary scenography over all three floors makes a visit to the museum an event to remember.

A sensational way of presenting the History of Switzerland. You have not the feeling of a "cold and lifeless" presentation. The exhibition is modern an very, very interesting.

Bundesbriefmuseum

Interesting place to spend an hour or so. Using various agreements, documents and scrolls, the museum tells the story of Swiss history from 1291 to the present. Good summary of historical research at the various information points. Not overly romanticised which would have been a very easy road to go down. Audiovisual displays also of very high quality. Perhaps I should have given it five out of five ;-)
Free to holders of a Raiffeisenbank member plus card.

Stoosbahnen

Reviewed By FormerCaliBoy - Zurich, Switzerland

Stoos is my closest and favorite spot to hike or view the Mountains & lakes during the summer months. In the past, there was free parking just past the Stoosbahn entrance and a five minute walk backwards, but it now looks like with all the new construction and new rotating, circular bahn on the way, all parking is for pay.
In most years, I venture to this area two to three times during the summer for a nice lift to the top and hike along the ridge from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock. The full day pass for all of the lifts on these trails costs 40CHF, but there are some shorter and cheaper options. Hopefully, the weather is clear and if so you will have some great views of several lakes and the Alps. Many people also just ride up to the Fronalpstock to the restaurant have something to eat, enjoy the view then take the ride back down.
The hike is not necessarily strenuous, but a good pair of shoes is suggested. I mostly pack a lunch and stop at some point during the hike to enjoy a little picnic and the stunning views.

This has to be the a) One of the most interesting houses we ever visited and b) it is hardly advertised.
Glorious panelled ceilings and walls, beautiful furniture and really worth a visit if you are near or in Schwyz. We found it fasinating. This review does not allow me to add photos as it is a first review.
But don't pass Schwyz without visiting here. We took almost three hours but if time is a problem, shorten your visit BUT visit this Haus

Ortstock

Reviewed By T R

The Ortstock (2717 m / 8914 ft) is one of the highest peaks in Canton Schwyz and offers great views all the way to Lake Lucerne, the Rigi, even the Säntis can sometimes be seen in the distance.
The peak is accessible via the Furggele ridge (2394 m / 7854 ft). The ascent is challenging. Coming up to the Furggele from the East, there is a steep climb from 2000 m on a winding, narrow trail of loose rock that can be slippery. Reaching Furggele from the West requires an equally steep climb over very loose gravel that will give and slide under your feet. Personally, I find it a little easier to ascent from the East (slightly firmer footing) and descent to the West ("surfing" the gravel).
Once you've climbed up to Furggele, it's another 300+ m up to Ortstock. For the most part, this climb is of average difficulty. The ground is still somewhat loose, and you will feel the altitude. There is one difficult section, where a vertical wall of about 6 m / 18 ft has to be climbed. There's a chain that you can hold on to, but it may be easier to freeclimb the rock.
Up on top, the views are spectacular. You can look along the Jegerstöck ridge with Urnerboden (leading to the Klausen pass) to the left and Lake Glattalpsee to the right, see all along the Linth valley, etc. A very rewarding and satisfying climb.

We went there on a Saturday night for a concert. The place is well organized, it has two floors, the second floor is mainly for dining, the bar and dancing area and stage are located in the first floor. The atmosphere is cozy, the interior is lovely. Last but not least, sound quality for the concert is great, we love the place.
