Lake Tobias Wildlife Park

We love this place! It's a manageable size for kids & grandparents! We hadn't been in several years & found the upgrades to be wonderful!

The sloth is a crowd pleaser, the baby capybaras were adorable & bear feeding time was fascinating. We didn't take the safari tour this time but please note that you don't have to decide at the parking kiosk if you want to take the safari. You can add it from within the park for the same price.

We stopped at Hershey's ZooAmerica later on the same day and there is no comparison. Lake Tobias is hands down 100% better!

It is closed due to the water level being so low, I wish this would have been mentioned on their website, since we took a trip there to ride on the ferry and found out it was closed once we were there.

Love the wine tasting and all the wonderful little drinks they concoct with their wines. Wonderful place for weddings, class reunions and birthday parties. They not only have an indoor venue for Friday and Saturday night entertainment, but also an outdoor area (bring your own lawn chair, blanket and snacks or drinks other than wine).

Stopped for the first time as part of the wine trail. A small, but nice and local winery. Selection is limited, but their offerings are good. Worth a visit when you're in the area.

A beautiful facility that showcases wildlife artist Ned Smith's work (best known for his art on the covers of "Game News"... The Pennsylvania Game Commissions Magazine). The Olewine Gallery also has some great pieces of art on a rotating exhibit (the current exhibit of Dan Christ {another talented artist} has great pieces of art that you were even able to purchase if you fell in love with something) Gift shop has some Ned Smith and other art prints and some great local artisan wares, books and resource material. Prices were very reasonable.

The staff and volunteers were very informative and welcoming. The grounds and surroundings are spectacular.

There is an nominal admission charge (reduced rates for students and senior citizens). Highly recommend a trip to the Ned Smith Center!

Armstrong Valley Winery

In 1769, Robert Armstrong established Gobatsburg Farm, which included a stone house, summer kitchen, ice house, barn and several other buildings, on 200 acres. 100 acres remains and contains the vineyards which are now part of the Armstrong Valley Vineyard & Winery. We produce dry reds & whites, semi-sweet reds & whites, and an array of fruit wines. We also have an event center in the barn.

Wonderful spot for a visit. There's a nice open area for seating, along with the enclosed porch area. A large selection of wines to choose from. Definitely stop when you are in the area; you'll be glad you did.

My Red Hat group has met here twice so far for lunch on a Saturday & expect to go back many times. They have a wide variety of wines, so no one goes home disappointed. A tasting of 3 wines is complimentary, but you can taste 3 more for $3. The lunch menu is limited to pizza, stromboli, calzone & a meat & cheese tray. Whatever you choose it will be delicious. If you are going with a group for lunch, it is a good idea to call ahead, otherwise you may have a longer wait than you like for your food.

What an awesome variety of crafts and antiques!!! There really is something for everyone. I was very impressed with the quality of all of the booths and it looks like they are getting even more booths every day. The prices were fairly reasonable. My only quip is the people who were working were not very friendly and were boarder lines snotty. It is a nice addition to the Elizabethville area.

Lykens Valley Golf Course

Located a short drive from downtown Harrisburg, just east of historic Millersburg, lies Lykens Valley Golf Course. This 18-hole championship course boasts 6,300 yards of gorgeous Pennsylvania countryside. Set amid rolling hills, streams, and wooded valleys, golf at Lykens Valley is a chance to test your game at one of the most picturesque settings in Central Pennsylvania.

We took two foursomes up to Lykens Valley golf course. It was a challenging course with the back nine being pretty tight. The fairways were a little rough but that can be expected with the weather we had this summer if you don't have some type of irrigation. We ate at the restaurant afterwards and all of our food was good. They had a nice selection of beers too!
