Nelsons Gin Distillery & Gin School

This was an excellent experience, You get to learn the history of Gin and you are given books to look at all botanicals used in different Gins. You then choose botanicals for your own blend with very knowledgeable and helpful guidance. You then make your own bottle in your little still. At the end before final dilution taste everyone's effort great but as this is this is about 57%ABV have a designated driver. I love my own blend still 3, 8/12/17
Will be ordering more. Lunch is provided as is a tour of the still and bottling. Highly Recommended. Nelson's own no.7 Gin is also highly recommended.

We went to Ashcroft Park for a work teambuilding session. There are ten of us and we did archery, riffle shooting, blind driving and laser tag. Absolutely fantastic day!
The organisers kindly provided beverages throughout the day and tasty jacket potatoes for lunch.
John and Paul made us feel very welcome and relaxed. We absolutely loved it despite seeing the competitive side in quite a few of us :)

Very enjoyable view of historical products and social events, in many casesit evoked childhood nostalgia, E.G remembering many items when they originally in daily use or available in the shops. Also some surprises when you discover the extent of the products and skills that were the norm in the Uttoxeter area. The Museum owner has compiled an invaluable social collection of our local past times.

Redfern's Cottage Museum of Uttoxeter Life

Small but perfectly formed 17th century house museum with seven different period rooms and galleries to explore. A home for Uttoxeter's stories!

Popped into Uttoxeter just to break my journey and found this place by accident. The entry fee is quite reasonable (£2 for a senior in my case) and I enjoyed exploring the rooms. I am sure it would have been far more interesting to locals but I still felt I got something out of it and was glad I visited.
A very friendly welcome from the staff too - thank you!

St Mary the Virgin Church

Reviewed By 2014Jandy - Nottingham, United Kingdom

We visited St Mary's in Uttoxeter which is a short walk from the main shopping area just over a busy road. t has a lovely 14th-century tower with a spire so looks unusual. Its worth walking around the outside in the churchyard so you can get a chance to see the building itself. The church yard looks well cared for. Sadly on this visit we didn't manage to see inside and we would have liked to see the stained glass windows from inside. We will be returning to Uttoxeter and leave more time to have a better look around.
