Vihren

No doubt that the scenery there is stunning as the journey from Bansko up to the hut was through a heavily wooded area. We could not leave the car however due to an invasion of flies that literally covered the windscreen as we pulled up.. Such a shame..

With Etar you could go back in the time and see how the bulgarian traditions have been part of bulgarians live. You will visit many craftsmen workshops such as wood-carving, copper-smith crafts, pottery, cutlery making, needlework, furriery, herbal medicine etc
All of this would be in tipical atmosphere of old bulgarian houses from 19 th centures(Bulgarian Renaissance houses)- so much history in one place.

I've been to many wine tastings and it's easy to tell when the exhibitor is only working and when there's passion involved, which is this case. I highly recommend (if you like complex and strong wines) to taste their beautiful Chardonnay aged in oak barrels...MoreThank you for your inspiring post. Your feedback helps us continue and improve. Dancing Bears Park

Reviewed By Janelle H

Visited the park today which rescues brown bears who have been kept in captivity and used as entertainment. Very cruel tradition in Bulgaria and other parts of Eastern Europe which is now outlawed. To see the bears in fantastic surroundings following some harrowing years was fabulous. All being given the opportunity to use their natural instincts of food foraging, digging caves and hibernating.
6 lev per adult with a guided tour of the complex. Takes about 1 hour once you've watched the video. Well worth a trip out about 40 mins from bansko.

Rupite

Reviewed By free_songbird - Manchester, United Kingdom

It's a place located inside the Mountains. It is mostly a park, a small church, the Statue of Vanga and her house...At the back of the facilities there are mineral Springs that you can enjoy while watching the exciting green and smelling the clean air...It's a protected area where rare plants and birds may be seen...Also inside the pools area there is a "cafe" place that sells fantastic "kebabtche"!

Bezbog - peak in Pirin Mountains

Reviewed By Tim P - Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom

Getting to Bezbog is experience enough, a 14 k winding road up to the two man chair lift was interesting, but the actual chair lift to the top is so much fun(don't wear flip flops as you need to be able to get off quickly and avoid the chair behind). The views on the lift are great, but once at the top, they are amazing. There are various walks to take and getting to some of the other lakes can be challenging but so worth while once you get there. All in all, a great place to visit.

Stob's Pyramids

Reviewed By Bucketgob - Cheltenham, United Kingdom

The pyramids are a sandstone outcrop of rocks near Blagoevgrad on the road towards Rila Monastry. The walk to view them is not for the faint hearted, The pathway is steep and pitted and certainly not suited to anyone in a wheelchair or who has any walking difficulties. The views when you reach the top are stunning with valley and mountain scenery at it's finest. You would need around 45 minutes to reach the top and at a cost of 1 lev (50 cents)) well worth the effort.

A wonderful display of woodcarving; inside and outside. The two rooms that were commisioned for ceiling carvings of the July and May suns are really special. An excellent display of decorative items also to be seen; including aprox. 1m high statues of the various rulers of Bulgaria throughout the centuries. Definitely recommended to have a guide to explain what you are seeing. Unfortunately no photos may be taken. A great display of this craft!
