Deception Pass State Park

This isn't a lie: with over 30 miles of hiking trails, this park is one of the premier hiking destinations in the country.

We parked and walked onto the bridge as far as my fear of heights would allow. The others with me walked to the other side and I picked them up. The views are incredible. The history behind it is very interesting. Check it out before visiting. Lots of cars and people during the summer.

Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve

Reviewed By IslandBoy246 - Whidbey Island, Washington

The Ebey's Landing Historical Reserve is a general area in the center of Whidbey Island that is based around some preserved farmland on Ebey's Prairie. There are no toursist facilities on the prairie or at Ebeys where you could purchase something to eat or any souvenirs. It is a nice place to park and walk the beach or hike up a trail to the bluff overlooking Perigo's lagoon. The water is cold on the beach and kids always get their feet wet on the beach, but the scenery is good on the days when the weather is clear. Strong winds out of the south most of the time mean bringing warm clothing is a good idea.

I stumbled onto this interesting museum, that features artifacts and stories from our aeronautical naval history - past and present. Fascinating - well worth a visit - and they have some excellent authentic ballcaps and tees in the entry area, at great prices...

Summer = go and enjoy the lavender! It's not just the labyrinth or the wide fields, there are also other flowers to enjoy. Don't miss the pond with wonderful reflections of the flowers around and the koi. I just had to buy another plant in the relaxing shop, where you can test the different essential oils, decide which lavender-flavored gem you need, and even enjoy lavender ice-cream. Professional and friendly advice there. There are picnic benches and tables for your enjoyment.

This little museum is a gem. It is rare that a museum provides such a breadth of information concerning a community. We were especially pleased with the Native American exhibit. The museum is well worth a visit.
