LeBlanc Swamp Tours

Called Mr. LeBlanc to schedule day and time for our tour. Beautiful day to tour Lake Martin with three couples from France, a couple from PA, and two Mississippians. LeBlanc sat the four "English" in the back and the six French in the middle and front. He spoke in French and English during the tour. I noticed that it took a shorter amount of time to tell it in English. We saw many alligators sunning on logs. They feed at night and rest during the day. Turtles, birds, ducks, and snakes were also seen. We made one stop to taste his peach moonshine and see the publications he's been featured in. Mr. LeBlanc has been in the US and French National Geographic. Recently I saw him in a Toyota commercial. A photographer gets bitten by a snake in the swamp, jumps in his SUV, and goes to find help. He finds three guys by a boat and Norbert tells him in French that it's not poisonous.

Went on an airboat ride. Didn't see much alligators so it was a bit dissapointing. Until we met Sam and Samantha. When Sam pulled up to the boat.....It is quite intimidating to see a 4,5 meter long alligator just one meter away from you. Sam was beautiful though, wat a monster. Samantha, the female gator, was there too. Not as big but still beautiful. Atchafalaya was beautiful, not al lot of wildlife but the swamp itself was very pretty. And a nice giftshop also.

Excellent tour. Lake Martin is very beautiful and concentrates lots of different landscapes (swamp, marsh, open water) in a small area. Tour was 2 hour-long with a fun guy named Shawn who told jokes AND let us enjoy the silence and beauty of the place. One of our best memories of Louisiana and definitely our best swamp tour. Service was also impeccable, thank you Shelly!

Attended a wedding on the 30th of December! Cathedral was absolutely beautifully decorated seasonal decor. It was breath taking and so festive. The celebrant did a fantastic job. His homily and message for the newlyweds was so personalable and sincere. He had a beautiful voice as he sang acapella.

I am amazed how little reviewed this great place is. It was a highlight of our trip to the South. This is a real experience. Great music in a place right out of a movie. Locals come in pickup trucks and cowboy boots dancing to first class music. Interesting to see the mixture of blacks and white.

Acadian Cultural Center

This center teaches the history of the Acadian peoples and their tragic history and eventual triumphs in the new world. It was history that I never was taught in school, but should have been. The introductory film is a good start but the museum adds a great deal to the film. My daughter did the junior ranger program here and we all learned a great deal from it. The staff here is friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend stopping here

Atchafalaya Welcome Center

Reviewed By EverleighYours - Sonoran Desert

Stopped to get info for the general area and ended up spending a bit of time here. Short video on the Atchafalaya area is recommended. There are nice displays, more like you'd find in a nature center rather than what many would consider a pit stop for (clean) rest rooms and water. They offer free coffee, maps, brochures and travel advice. Nice spot to stretch your legs and get some air for your pets.
